A imagem positiva do Brasil subiu levemente entre 2012 e 2013, mas aumentou também o percentual de pessoas que acreditam que o país tem uma influência predominantemente negativa no mundo, informa uma pesquisa do Serviço Mundial da BBC divulgada na noite desta quarta-feira.
Segundo o levantamento Country Ratings Pool, feito com 26,3 mil pessoas em 25 países, uma média de 46% dos entrevistados (contra 45% no ano anterior) dizem ter percepções positivas da influência do Brasil no mundo. Dezenove dos países pesquisados veem o Brasil positivamente.
Ao mesmo tempo, porém, cresceu de 18% para 21% a porcentagem de visões negativas sobre o Brasil. Com isso, o país fica em sétimo lugar em um ranking com outras 16 nações e a União Europeia.
“A visão geral sobre o Brasil é menos favorável do que era em 2012, por conta do aumento nas classificações negativas”, diz o levantamento.
Os países mais bem vistos são a Alemanha (que, segundo 59% dos entrevistados, tem influência positiva), o Canadá e a Grã-Bretanha (ambos com 55% de percepção positiva).
No outro extremo do ranking está Irã: 59% dos entrevistados veem o país como uma influência negativa e apenas 15% como positiva. O país persa é seguido por Paquistão, Coreia do Norte e Israel, com índices similares entre si.
A pergunta feita aos entrevistados sobre cada país era se ele achava que sua influência no mundo era “predominantemente positiva” ou “predominantemente negativa”.

“Parece estar crescendo a frustração com os governos (dos países pesquisados), já que, passados quase cinco anos desde o início da crise financeira, eles parecem incapazes de tirar suas economias da depressão”, diz Sam Mountford, diretor da GlobeScan.
A percepção positiva sobre a União Europeia, por exemplo, está em um de seus patamares mais baixos (49%). Os EUA também viram sua imagem piorar (de 47% para 45%) e ficaram abaixo do Brasil no ranking.
A China e a Índia perderam, respectivamente, oito e seis pontos percentuais em percepção positiva em relação à pesquisa do ano passado e estão entre os países com a maior deterioração de imagem sob os olhos dos entrevistados.
“O prestígio de China e Índia havia crescido pelo fato de (os países) terem desafiado a retração econômica, mas isso parece ter mudado com as taxas de crescimento mais lentas e a percepção de ampla corrupção”, opina Steven Kull, diretor da PIPA, empresa corresponsável pelo estudo.
Olhares sobre o Brasil
A desaceleração econômica também parece estar por trás do aumento da percepção negativa sobre o Brasil.
“A impressão das pessoas é de que o país não está representando, assim como outros emergentes, uma alternativa para o crescimento da economia global em meio ao cenário de recessão nos países ricos”, afirmou Mountford à BBC Brasil.
O Brasil é o país é mais bem visto pelos entrevistados do Chile (73% deles com percepção positiva a respeito do país), Peru (65%), Nigéria (62%) e Gana (60%).
E os brasileiros também se veem com bons olhos: 77% dos entrevistados daqui acham que o país tem uma influência positiva no mundo, contra 7% que a veem como negativa.
Mas australianos e alemães têm os maiores índices de percepção negativa sobre o Brasil. A percepção tampouco é muito positiva entre os países Bric (Rússia, China e Índia).
“Declinaram na China a visão positiva do público sobre o Brasil, para 34%, uma queda de sete pontos percentuais. É a menor proporção de percepção positiva dada pelos chineses à influência brasileira desde que a pesquisa começou, em 2008”, informa o levantamento.
O estudo foi feito entre dezembro de 2012 a abril de 2013. No Brasil, a pesquisa de opinião foi feita em nove capitais.
